WELCOME TO BARN HUNT LESSONS!
An amazing opportunity for any dog, size, breed and skill level!
This is the perfect challenge to strengthen your relationship with your canine companion and test their ability to seek, find and locate our hidden rodents in a barn setting. Given the fact that rats don’t exist in Alberta 😉 we have hidden our Cultured Gerbils in hay and it’s you and your dog’s job to find them!
We love creating opportunities to challenge and train our dogs, and barn hunt requires them to utilize all of their senses in a group setting. The end goal is to locate the live tubes before time runs out and have an absolute blast either learning a new skill and building on your current relationship with your dog!
This is a fantastic opportunity to enter the world of dog sports. We are proud to offer lessons that will build confidence, communication, and improve your relationship with your dog!
Our approach will be to prepare you and your dog to be successful in official Barn Hunt trials. Group lessons give you the opportunity to have your dog in a “blind” so it’s a more authentic practise session. Lessons will always be tailored to each individual dog even in a group setting.
Our team has hundreds of hours of Barn Hunt trialing experience all across Western Canada and even in the USA! We pride ourselves on successfully trailing all of our dogs to the Masters level in official Barn Hunt trials. We attend all local Barn Hunt trials to support our clients and keep our own skills sharp. All of our Barn Hunt instructors have taken the Barn Hunt Judge workshop to further their learning and are in the process of becoming official Barn Hunt judges! We have also trained and successfully trialed in scent detection with our dogs to bring our clients an even more well rounded approach to the sport of Barn Hunt.
One of the biggest benefits of training with us is that we are also an official Barn Hunt Association Club that is able to host official trials! You will be able to train in the same ring where you will be trialing!

Start here if your dog has never tried barn hunt before. This course will introduce you and your pooch to the sport and lay the foundation for future success! You will learn all the rules of the sport and your dog will be safely introduced to the gerbils.

This course is for those who have tried barn hunt before but want and need more practise for trialing!
(Or just for fun… not everyone is hyper competitive and that’s okay! You’ve seen the ribbons they give out though… right?)
We will cover common trial issues such as weak indications, refusing to tunnel, blind anxiety (for the dogs and humans) and general naughty behaviour in the ring!

This course is for those who are struggling in Senior, just graduated from open, or just got into masters. This course will prepare you to get through senior and ace it in masters!
As anyone who’s been “stuck in senior” knows, senior is THE WORST! Going from 2 to 4 rats is a huge jump and many dogs aren’t ready for it. For those still in senior, if your dog is ready, you’ll get opportunities to try out master courses.
For those that are already in masters, this course will give you the ability to practice in a trial-like scenario so you can walk into your next trial and confidently call “clear!”

Drop in lessons are only available to clients who have taken another barn hunt course with us OR have at least one “Q” in an official barn hunt trial. (proof required for new clients)
